Video - Lilo Has a New Toy

[andstitch]

"Whoa! This is so cool!"

[The kid has the screen right up to her eye then pulls it back to a more normal distance.]

"I could film all sorts of cool things with this! Like space mummy vampires from Mars! But first I'm gonna need some actors. Oh! I wonder if this thing can call Jumba! Then he can make me all sorts of new actors!"

[Someone was bouncing like she'd had too much sugar.]

"Then we'll try somewhere else after the movie! But first, candy and ice cream!"

Amused, Sephiroth finally said, "Of course, as a responsible adult, I can't allow you to completely overindulge on sweets. But you may have some if we find such places."

He wondered if she managed to get a lot of people to fall for that or if people generally did not, and whether or not they would indulge her anyway. But she had come through an experience that would surely be distressing to most children once they really processed being alone, so he was willing to let her have some treat out of it. At least this time.

Don't worry, I secretly have two stomachs, so I can eat loads!"

"Oh, I see."

Honestly, that sounded like something Zack might have said, so he was further amused and found the child endearing.

"Have you seen any of the city before?"

It was an interesting place, very urban with very few areas of grass and trees. He preferred the area outside the city, where those things were still prominent.

[andstitch]

"No. Actually I've never seen any city except on TV. Well... and except when aliens were attacking. I live on a small island with no big cities," she said, cheerfully. "Do cities have more candy shops?"

"They generally do, yes," he said. "This city looks like it's still being built, so I don't know if they've got that far yet."

But he had a hard time believing there wouldn't be at least one candy store.

[andstitch]

"Candy shops should be first," she said, nodding. "And movie theaters. Oh, and a surf shop so Nani can have a job. After the candy store can we go surfing?"

“I’m afraid I don’t know how to surf,” Sephiroth said. “And I don’t think this city is near enough to an ocean to have surfing as an option. I believe I heard about a place on another continent that may have surfing.”

[andstitch]

Lilo.exe has stopped at the thought of not being close enough to the ocean to surf. Please reboot or insult an Elvis record to restart Lilo.exe.

“Are you alright?” Sephiroth asked.

[andstitch]

"We.... can't get to the ocean....?"

[3wingedangel]

“Not easily,” Sephiroth said. He could definitely fly or teleport, but he needed the right coordinates to do the latter. And he was not terribly keen on taking someone he had just met so far away, especially a child. Someone might come looking for her.

[andstitch]

"But... But I have to feed Pudge!"

[3wingedangel]

“Who is Pudge?”

Uh oh. He suspected now it may finally sink in that she was far from home.

[andstitch]

"Pudge is a fish! And I have to feed him every week! If I forget Nani might give him tuna!"

[3wingedangel]

“I’m sorry, but I doubt Pudge is here. He is likely back at your home.”

He tried to speak kindly and gently, but he didn’t know how well he was doing with that.

[andstitch]

"Then I have to go home! And Nani said if I miss any more hula lessons I can't see the new Mummy Invasion movie!" Well actually those were separate things, as she wasn't allowed to see the movie until she was twenty, which was super unfair.

“I wish I could send you home, but I am unable to do that,” he said. “We’re trying hard to figure out how the portals work and how to get them open again, but we haven’t been able to yet.”

[andstitch]

"No! I have to go home!" she said, angry seeming now to cover the fear. "This isn't my one true place! My one true place is at home with my Ohana!"

“I know,” he said sadly. “So many have been brought here by accident from their … true places. We are doing all we can to fix it.”

[andstitch]

"Fine! Then tell me how to help." Or get out of her way.

[3wingedangel]

Sephiroth pondered that. While he knew children were capable of helping problems and that youth could wield Keyblades, he didn’t know if there was anything children could do about this specific situation at this point.

“You can support us while we’re trying to solve this problem. Perhaps try to help some of the misplaced people settle in. They’re likely all confused and upset about what’s happened and would benefit from some kindness from others.”

[andstitch]

"You mean babysit the tourists? I'm an experienced 'speriment catcher and rehomer. I don't need busy work!"

Sephiroth gave a bit of an amused smirk again.

"They're not tourists any more than you are. We're all stranded in this together. All of us want to get back to our true places."

[andstitch]

"Fine, then let's work on that instead of babying people!"
