Video - Lilo Has a New Toy

"Whoa! This is so cool!"

[The kid has the screen right up to her eye then pulls it back to a more normal distance.]

"I could film all sorts of cool things with this! Like space mummy vampires from Mars! But first I'm gonna need some actors. Oh! I wonder if this thing can call Jumba! Then he can make me all sorts of new actors!"

[Someone was bouncing like she'd had too much sugar.]

"Heh. Maybe when you grow up, you'll discover money actually is important." Many did, although Sephiroth had never been that interested in it.

"It's just stinky paper."

He looked amused at that. "You don't think it has any value?"

[andstitch]

She shrugged. "You give it to people to make them do things. But I'd rather be given ice cream."

[3wingedangel]

Further amusement. "You realize it buys ice cream, don't you?"

[andstitch]

"So does asking real nice, and sometimes giving someone a pretty shell or rock."

Little kids got away with more than adults to.

"Heh. Perhaps, but not in a store. Unless your stores are different than here."

[andstitch]

"You just gotta ask nice. Or if you want fruit, you gotta ask loud mostly." Mrs. Hasegawa couldn't hear anything quieter than a yell half the time.

[3wingedangel]

"Then your stores are indeed very different from almost anywhere else." Perhaps it was a little village where everyone knew each other. It sounded like it might be.

Or it was pity for the poor weird orphan kid. Especially since giving her something got her to leave, and her hanging around was often bad for business.

She looked up at him. "People here wouldn't take nice shells?"

That would be unfortunate.

“No,” he replied. “People here need money. They’re still building up their city after a disaster destroyed the old one.”

[andstitch]

"Well... what if I find them 'Speriments that help rebuild stuff?"

[3wingedangel]

“I don’t know if there are any here, but I’m sure they’d be grateful,” he said.

[andstitch]

"Then I gotta go find some! Okay! Bye!"

"Where will you look?" Sephiroth didn't like this idea at all. The area seemed so dangerous, both in the wilderness and the old city ruins. A child shouldn't be wandering alone, especially one who didn't know the area.

[andstitch]

"Dunno yet. I'll listen for people screaming in fear then go there!"

[3wingedangel]

"They might be screaming because of the monsters that live in this world, rather than anything from yours," Sephiroth said.

[andstitch]

"Even better!"

[3wingedangel]

He gave her a stern look at that. "You have no knowledge of the monsters in this world. You will very likely be hurt if you try to approach them as being the same as your own."

[andstitch]

"Nani says experience is the greatest teacher. Usually when I tell her I don't know how to do a chore."

[3wingedangel]

“At least chores aren’t life-threatening,” Sephiroth deadpanned.

[andstitch]

"I'm not gonna threaten anyone's life." Probably.

[3wingedangel]

"The monsters would likely threaten yours," Sephiroth replied. And he wasn't at all sure she didn't know that's what he meant.

[andstitch]

"It's okay, I'm not scared," she reassured him unreassuringly.

[3wingedangel]

"Perhaps others would be scared for you," he pointed out.
